What is 5-Stand?
5-Stand is a dynamic clay target shooting sport that is both fun and challenging for shotgun shooters of all skill levels. It offers a wide variety of target presentations in a structured format that keeps every round engaging.
A standard 5-Stand setup consists of five shooting stations arranged in a line. Up to five shooters participate at a time, rotating through each station. At every station, shooters engage five different target presentations, for a total of 25 targets per round.
The course uses multiple traps, each throwing clays in unique and unpredictable ways — simulating real-world shooting scenarios such as:
- – Running “rabbit” targets
- – Springing teal (vertical targets)
- – Incoming and outgoing birds
- – Quartering-away and quartering-in angles
This variety makes every round different and helps shooters develop timing, target tracking, and shot placement skills.
5-Stand is one of the most popular disciplines at Eagle Lake Gun Club. New shooters are always welcome, and our members and volunteers are happy to provide guidance to help you learn the game in a safe and supportive environment.
