Steel Challenge Shooting, offers a point of entry to the action shooting sports that is an excellent starting place for young or beginner shooters. It also provides a ‘less physical’ way to participate for those who have begun to suffer the problems associated with aging or other disability. Regardless of your shooting background or skill level, all shooters walk away smiling after shooting Steel Challenge.
Steel Challenge shooting, emphasizing firearm handling, speed and accuracy. Five, static steel plates are shot from a stationary position. The stage is shot five times in succession. The slowest of the five time scores is dropped and the four best times are added together for a stage score. Multiple stage scores are added together and the highest total, for all stages shot, becomes the winner. There are eight possible stages in a Steel Challenge match. Each stage, has a unique placement of plates (distance-angle) in its design and each offers a different challenge to the shooter.
Steel Challenge can be shot with any “pistol calibre“ firearm, including 22lr. Pistol or carbine, all that is required is ammunition and multiple magazines (ideally, five). Depending on the category of firearm, starts can be from the ready position or holster (surrender position). Regardless of your shooting background or skill level, all shooters walk away smiling after shooting Steel Challenge.
